Being “Green” used to mean riding a bike to work or living off the land. Now it means a lot of things to a lot of people. To the automobile industry it means higher fuel efficiency and to the manufacturing sector it means producing more with less energy consumption and pollution; but what about housing? To the housing industry it means two things; one is to build homes with less impact on the environment and using more renewable resources; and it also means building a home that will require less energy and utilities to live comfortably. Both of these must come together in order to be a successful “Green”
home builder.

At Ivory Homes we do both extremely well. We build homes that use renewable resources such as engineered wood products and we participate in recycling programs for construction waste such as wood and concrete. For example, the floor joists of our homes are pre-cut at the plant and trucked to the jobsite to minimize waste and on-site cutting of materials. In fact, we average about 9,500lbs of recycled waste for every home we build and this is waste that does not end up in our landfills. And to top it off, all our furnaces, air conditioning units, and windows exceed the strictest requirements of the EPA’s Energy Star program! Our energy saving products we install standard in a new Ivory home are designed to maximize the most value for our customer’s dollar. In fact, Ivory Homes was recently awarded the “Utah Energy Champion” award for 2011 and a “Leadership in Housing Award” from the EPA for 2012. While we are happy with these awards and accolades, our biggest sense of accomplishment begins and ends with every satisfied new Ivory home owner.
