Everyone is going green… or so they claim. It’s the popular thing to do now! But it’s hard to know if your home builder is truly going the extra mile to save the environment and save you money on your utility bills. So we thought we’d share what’s green about Ivory Homes.
Our building practices for energy efficiency meet or exceed all government building codes and/or the latest government sponsored energy programs, making our homes more efficient than ever before. We have partnered with our local utility providers and consulted with some of the nation’s top building experts to develop what we feel is the absolute best value for your dollar. And all our homes are independently verified by third-party Home Energy Raters to ensure they meet our stringent qualifications. In fact, some of the energy saving features of a new Ivory home exceed the federal government’s latest Energy Star stipulations. For example, our furnaces and windows far outperform the Energy Star requirements.
Because of these efforts, last year Ivory Homes was given the “Utah Energy Champion” award by Utah Building Energy Efficiency Strategies (UBEES), which is a public/private partnership involved in reducing energy use in Utah’s buildings. We build homes that use renewable resources such as engineered wood products, and we participate in recycling programs for construction waste such as wood and concrete. For example, the floor joists of our homes are pre-cut at the plant and trucked to the jobsite to minimize waste and on-site cutting of materials. In fact, we average about 9,500 lbs of recycled waste for every home we build and this is waste that does not end up in our landfills.
What’s exciting is that a new Ivory home will use significantly less energy to heat and cool than a home built just a few years ago! You’ll notice the difference as you feel more comfortable in the home you’re not paying a fortune to keep at a good temperature! And besides saving you money through energy efficiency, our efforts are saving the environment as well. Clark Ivory, CEO of Ivory Homes, said “We care about the larger world we live in and our very own community—it’s ours, it’s where we live and where we raise our children, and we know it’s our responsibility to make it better.”
